Coverage of 2012 working

Friday, November 11th, 2011

It’s now possible for trusted users to take charge of reporting complete results for 2012 championship. The 2012 season also includes the championships that starts this year but runs over the new year, i.e. 2011-12 type of championships.

It’s also quite possible to take charge of championships further into the future if you really want to plan ahead. ;)

Sorry it took so long!

Some small updates

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Registered users with +1 status (the members who can save and add new information directly to the database) have one new option under Member tools below the championship or non-championship races standings on pages for the current year. The new tool is to set championship or non-championship races as finished. When a championship is reported as finished the top three drivers will get the “Formula X champion 2010″, “Second in Formula X 2010″, or “Third in Formula X 2010″ added under either the Racing career highlights or Karting career highlights header on the front page of their profile.

It’s of extreme importance that you check any points or results so that they represent the final results before setting something as finished.

Registered users who are in charge of updating one or more series during the season will now not see them on the dashboard once they are set as finished. When having lots and lots of championships under your control the already finished ones were taking up too much space – so now we’re rid of those! :D

Speeding things up

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

The members of Driver Database with a little bit of extra trust (earned by extremely hard work and dedication) can now approve some more submissions sent in by the “regular” users. They have been able to approve fan messages, new drivers and changes to driver profiles (names, birth dates and such) for a few months now, but from today they can also approve changes that have been made to championships and non-championship races. This should hopefully mean that the queue for these entries should be considerably smaller than if I’m the only one who can approve/decline these.

The hard working members who now can approve/decline these submissions are; Bertil, Urs, Dirk, Erick, Erik, Jari, Otto, Federico and Ross. These guys all play an extremely vital role in what goes on at Driver Database and without them the database would probably be only a fraction of the size it is today.

On another note I removed the bug which prevented the cached results on the driver’s overview page to not be updated when an entry had been deleted.

Submissions queue

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

I went through a couple of entries (62 of them) in the submissions queue and the New Drivers and the Driver Edits queues are now a thing of the past. Next up is the career edits where there’s 80 entries waiting impatiently. While I was at it I wrote a little script that now allows all Level 2 members (which currently are me, Ross K, Bertil Å, Dirk K, Urs S, Erick R, Erik H, Jari H, Otto H, and Federico G) – not just me – to approve or decline Fan Messages, New Drivers and Driver Edits. Hopefully these queues will move a little quicker thanks to those members. I will add permissions for the other submissions (career, photos etc) later on, it just needs a little more work before I let anyone else play with it.

I also added a few helmet photos. Still plenty of those waiting to be added though.

02:50. I need sleep.
